Migration was stuck calculating and now keeps restarting itself.
Kevin Hoffman
Hi, I'm the product manager of the WP Engine Site Migration plugin. Thanks for taking the time to provide feedback.
I only see one migration from today associated with the email address of your account, so I'll base this advice on that failure. It appears that the attempt was blocked by Wordfence. Here's a copy of the raw error message that I can see from the log of the attempted migration:
> The migration was blocked by the Wordfence plugin, which is active on the remote site. This issue is related to the Wordfence Web Application Firewall (WAF). To resolve it, temporarily disable the firewall by logging in to the destination site and navigating to: Dashboard → Wordfence → Firewall → All Firewall Options. Change the Web Application Firewall Status to Disabled, and press Save Changes. Once done, return to this site and restart the migration.
I also see that the plugin previously completed a migration to this site in August 2024. It's possible that the initial migration to an empty WordPress environment succeeded because Wordfence was not yet active on the destination.
Can you please try the following?
- Deactivate Wordfence on the destination site.
- Uninstall and reinstall the WP Engine Site Migration plugin on the source site.
- Retry the migration.
If you need more help or by chance you are referring to a different migration altogether, please email sitemigrations@wpengine.com, and include the source URL, destination URL, and migration ID.
